Coming of Age and Google Rankin Thursday 2006-01-26
Lorelle, in her “Secret Out – How Google Ranks Websites“, presents a thorough walk-through of Google’s ranking system, the patent made public last year. Rumors of how to fool the search engine has run around the Internet for quite some time.
Would a lot of keywords in meta tags do?
What about humongous link lists, or lots of hidden text or random image scripts?
The article give some answers. Wellformedness, good key words, reasonable links and anchor text, frequent updates of the site, user interest are key features of a high ranking site. But the age of your web site also contributes to the ranking, so hold on to your site!
And then of course, the amount of high ranking sites linking to your site.
Read it all on Lorelle’s blog, and if you are ambitious, follow her link to the patent document.

Thanks for the link and great way to describing the process. It boils down to content content content and no games in order to get good page ranking. Oh, and good consistent content over a long period of time.
Thanks!

Just checking in and found that I’m in your blogroll, and what a sweet thing to say. You darling!
Thanks so much again, and thanks also for becoming one of my WordPress and blogging news resources.
I found some great tips recently from your blog about Owen’s look at statistics and Claire Campbell’s article on columns for WordPress Themes. Excellent finds! Keep up the fabulous work!

Lorelle: Thanks for your nice words.
Not only are you in the roll, but I have a special link to your WP Resource page, so I’ll be able to answer the questions in the support forum.
Fairly new to this blogging thing, I hope to be writing about life and technology and my finds in the humongous infoworld of the web.
