Sandy's Forum _ AS2 1.x versions _ WRL Importing Problem

Posted by: Nicholas Ball Oct 27 2006, 07:25 PM

Hey guys,

Building a 3D campus plotter for Imperial College London and needed some help on the WRL importer!!

I have a 2D AutoCAD drawing of the campus and imported it into 3DS MAX8 in order to export it into a WRL format (VRML). The file that was exported is very basic tho and only contains very little data, and the WRL parser in Sandy doesnt import anything!!

I was wondering whether someone could have a look at the dxf or/and 3ds file and tell me what I could do??
Or just give me some suggestions...

Would be greatly appriciated,
Thanx in advance...

Hi,
The WRL parser is very sensible (is that the right word?) on the way it is formatted. I mean the tabulations or spaces are very important for the parser, and unfortunatelly the WRL format isn't very specified.

Somebody has done some modifications on the parser on a french board, I'll give you his source files, and try to look at it.

I found it.
It should allow the WRL files generated by 3DS

Thanks,

Got the download but it still is not loading any objects?

Any other ideas?

Yes, compare the generated WRL file, and the one I'm using on the demo.
try to find the difference and why the parser fails to load your file wink.gif
