Sandy's Forum _ AS2 1.x versions _ help with primitive

Posted by: bfi Nov 13 2006, 03:24 PM

I think that the sandy engine is very good for making a very nice animated 3D pie chart. But I'm new to flash 3D, and I cannot figure out how to make a "slice" class, because I don't know the math for it. I tried the cylinder class as an example, but it is not a good start, as the class uses an unsuitable algorithm; for a theta from 0 to like pi+pi/2, I get the result in the attached image. Can you please give me some guidance? Thank you, and keep up the good work!

Hi
Indeed some maths functios are required here.
But the Cylinder algo is a good start, just set enableBackfaceCulling to false, and that should be better wink.gif

bfi, you were really close. you just need to add the center points.
attached is a slice class that i just got working. you may want to change the package name.
i still need to test it out more but its basically there.
