Sandy's Forum _ AS2 1.x versions _ Rendering back faces

Posted by: Jeffrey Blyseth Feb 23 2007, 04:23 PM

I know this came up in another topic, but I think it's worth bringing up on it's own. Losing backface rendering for objects feels decidedly tragic in 1.2. Is this merely a bug at this point or is the intention to leave it out in 1.2? Adding additional planes really adds to the overhead and complexity of development. Can we have this back in the product? Or can I get a little guidance on how it worked in the previous version so I can try to get it into 1.2?
Thanks

Hi Jeffrey.
no problem for making this post.

It is a limitation of the 1.2 BETA. It is due to the new architecture I've made with faces (now polygons). Backface skin shall be possible, but not texture.

Keep me informed on this? Is back face is possible with other skin than texture one or completely disable?

I think it's a negative to lose back faces, but that's because I'm working on something that really needs them smile.gif It might be useful to allow even non-texture back faces.

That said, it's a bummer not to have back face texture skins.
