Sandy's Forum _ AS2 1.x versions _ streaming webcam video into 3D game?

Posted by: akula Feb 26 2007, 04:30 PM

Is it possible to use the method here: http://sandy.media-box.net/blog/the-webcam-texturing-thanks-to-bitmapdata.html for webcam 3D objexts texturing and make a simple game where the keyboard moves you and you can see other people's faces textured onto 3D objects so it's like you're actually seeing them when you play?

Hi ,

Yes sure. I thought about that too smile.gif

But the problem will always be the performance... In AS2 it would be too slow with more than 3 or 4 people I guess...

I wanted to do this to make an arcade game console to sell to different video arcade companies around the world. Japan has so many video arcades and is always interested in the latest tech.

We would only need it to have up to 4 players so we could get powerful PC's and 15fps should be fine. I am an electro-mechanical engineer and I can design and build the arcade machine with controls if you would want to program a game for it? Interested?

If we could pull this off this game would be a hot item for 2007, nothing else out there would be close to as cool and I believe it would sell very good-- it would be high end tech and we need to beat the competition to this because I know other's will eventually think of it. Interested in a partnership? Lets chat more, cheers-

That can be a very promissing idea :-)

But for the last next weeks (months?) I'll be very busy. But wan can discuss about that with a lot of pleasure smile.gif

What kind of arcade game would you like to do ?
