Full Version: Simple Lines
velcrome
Hi kiroukou

first of all: thanks for sandy. the project is one of the best flash projects I have ever seen. I started working with it a few days ago and I am very impressed.

Only one thing bothers me: I am unable to create simple skinnable lines with it, everything needs to be a face. Is there a way that I just didn't see?

ps: why is Object3D missing in the documentation?
kiroukou
Hi velcrome
Thanks you for your nice words!

The line feature is missing indeed. I've worked on it last week end, and this should be ready quite soon smile.gif
I didn't expected this feature to be very interessting, I guess I was wrong biggrin.gif

Object3D is missing in the doc? I'm going to check that. THat's not normal ... Anyway thank you for the feedback smile.gif

HI,
Yes Object3d is missed...
sandi is the best project. indeed.
Lines? who need lines? no commerical 3d editor can make renderable lines! (im guessing)
kiroukou
The lines will be available in the next update wink.gif
It is working perfectly here

Great Work Kiroukou! Can´t wait for the lines to come up.

Im thinking about getting a house made with CAD , passing those lines through the .WRL parser and then 'extrude' them at my pleasure with sandy.

Maybe it would be possible to build some faces out of them?

Alternatively, what could be better:
importing the whole 3D model of the house ( not just the lines ) and then gradually render the object from bottom to top? If possible can someonte point me the right direction?

thx
kiroukou
If you want to play with Lines, go here : http://www.flashsandy.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=59
And download the alpha version smile.gif There is the Line3D primitive included.

About the gradually rendering, I don't know what would be better. I'm guessing that you can make a little function that add the vertex and faces with a specific tempo.
Anyway it is feasible smile.gif Now you just have to get inside Sandy to understand how it works.
If you need some specific technical advices, do not hesitate to ask in this board

gee .. thx a lot!
Working with 3D at this level it's still a bit confusing for me but I will have a look on the weekend... smile.gif

Hmm.. I guess you need a CAPTCHA for this forum Kiroukou? =/
Although personally, as a user, I dont like a captcha, but what can u do to make spammers/bots away from the forum. sad.
kiroukou
I forgot to set the correct permission to this room. It's a shame to have to do that. SPAM is such a stupid thing...
Anyway this shall be solved here now.

That showtopic seems to lead nowhere. I get a "Sorry ... " message only.
The topic of lines is interesting though, if you want to draw something simple in 3D space wink.gif

[Edit feb 4 2007] Well, now it does wink.gif Thanks!
